About this Subject Spotlight

Join Dr Jilly Kay as she explores the curious question:  How much power does the media actually have?

The media plays a huge role in shaping who and what we are, and how we perceive society and the world. In recent times, social justice movements like Black Lives Matter and #MeToo have been framed by mass media outlets in ways that persuade us to think about them in a certain way. Jilly starts to discuss these major issues, thinking critically about the lasting societal and psychological impacts of media and social media on the way we actually think, and therefore how much power the media actually has.

Episodes

2. What role does the media play in social justice movements?
